Social Enterprise Alliance is pleased to report that one of its keynote speakers at the 2011 Summit is the winner of the Schwab Foundation US Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 award.
Darell Hammond, founder of KaBoom has been recognized by the foundation for his organization’s innovative work and social impact, joining a global network of leading social entrepreneurs from over 40 countries.
Chairperson and co-founder, Hilde Schwab, has said that the organizations that win this award in the US have a major global impact.
KaBOOM is one of three winners – the others being “BuildChange” founded by Elizabeth Hausler and “Verite”, led by CEO Dan Viederman.
Despite working in three very different sectors, the Schwab Foundation has recognized that these organizaitons have one thing in common. “They have developed strategic partnerships with the private and public sector to solve problems. By developing innovative models that combine the strengths of government, business, and civil society, they are able to accelerate their social impact, delivering better results for more people as cost-effectively as possible” says Mirjam Schoning, Senior Director and the head of Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.
